First WP Handset From Nokia And Microsoft The Nokia Lumia 800

It was last year when Microsoft and Nokia released their very first Windows phone the Nokia Lumia 800. This handset bears the same design as Nokia’s first and only MeeGo Phone the N9. The phone’s screen is smaller than the N9, it is at 3.7″ only with a resolution of 800 x 480p. This is Nokia’s step for the handset to conform to Windows Phone specification list.

When it comes to the phone’s CPU it is a different story, this handset ships with a 1.4GHz MSM8255 Snapdragon/Scorpion processor. This made the phone’s operating system snappier.

This handset was made to compete with the HTC Radar and Titan, fellow Windows Phone Mango handsets. When it comes to the phone’s screen, this is definitely not as good as the two HTC handsets. Last year, handsets with bigger screens are more favorable than ones with smaller screens. This may not be an iPhone 4 handset but it is capable of giving you a sharper pixel density.

The phone comes in with 16GB worth of fixed internal storage. The phone’s actual dimensions are 116.5 x 61.2 x 12.1mm and weighs in exactly at 142 grams. It boasts that slim and lightweight profile. If you look at the phone, you will notice how it is capable of drawing you in with its smooth curves and prominent design. And when you hold this handset, it will always give you that perfect fit regardless of the size of your hand. If you are used to holding slim handsets, then this is a must have for you.

The phone’s 3.7″ AMOLED screen is pushed to the sides of the phone’s chassis. Its curved polycarbonate shell will give you that premium feeling. This is something that not even high-end smartphones of today can give you. Nokia maintained the phone’s unibody design. They used top-mounted flaps to cover up the phone’s charging port and SIM card slot. The phone’s battery is inaccessible. You will also get a micro SIM on this handset. If your current SIM card is not the same size (using standard SIM card), then you can always crop it down or request a re-sized SIM from your network provider. Or you can always get a SIM card adaptor for this.

The Nokia Lumia 800 may bear resemblance to Nokia’s first and only MeeGo handset the N9, but this handset features a powerful processor and new Windows Phone Mango for its operating system.

Samsung Galaxy Beam – Unique Handset Up Close

The Samsung Galaxy Beam is not an ordinary handset, it packs a powerful projector. This is Samsung’s second attempt in giving us a projector phone. The first one was released back in 2009 and is named the Galaxy Beam as well. However, this first projector phone never came out except in Singapore. This is Samsung’s way of entertaining Chilean miners. This handset was a huge success back in the day it was released, although to a chosen few only.

Come Mobile World Congress 2012, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Beam with projector module and it comes packed with 15 lumen and nHD with 640 x 360 screen resolution. This handset is expected to create a somewhat new watchable mobile experience even in low ambient lighting setting. You can also view a lot of things and in giant view as well. It can go big as much as 50 inches. Can you imagine viewing your favorite videos or movies in the absence of a big screen TV or your precious laptop? This is impossible before, but now the technology is here and Samsung finally did it for everyone to enjoy it.

Let us now talk about the Galaxy Beam’s form factor. The handset comes in with bright orange sides. This is sure to attract a lot of attention mostly if you are use to loud and striking colors. It is quite on a chubby side but comes in with a sturdy build. The phone is 12.5mm thick and weighs exactly at 145 grams. But to the phone’s defense, it is quite comfortable to hold with its ergonomic and tapered back. Samsung used patterned and non-slippery back cover build out of soft-touch plastic. You will also notice this slight bulge above the phone’s circular 5MP lens with LED Flash. This is also where you will find the phone’s 15 lumen projector.

So how does it work? The phone’s projector shows what is happening on your 4″ LCD display screen. It comes with 480 x 800p for its resolution. The actual display sports vivid and bright colors. Not to mention that you will also get excellent viewing angles on this handset. It comes with 223ppi for its pixel density. You do not have to worry about pixilation when it comes to this handset.

On the phone’s right side, you will find the projector on/off switch. This is located just above the phone’s power/lock key. There is also a volume rocker on the phone’s left side and the microSD and SIM card slots are located at the phone’s right side. With this, you do not have to pry open the phone’s back cover just to access them.

As you can see, Samsung made an excellent choice in giving us all the chance to own a projector phone. All we have to do now is to wait for it to hit the stores.

Floating Reports About The iPhone 5

When Apple released the iPhone 4S back in October of 2011, fans were expecting a radically designed iOS-powered smartphone. However, what was unveiled was as phone that looked exactly like its predecessor with a number of upgrades. Although the smartphone was a big hit, Apple fans expected more. If you were one of those who were expecting something new, this might be the case with Apple’s upcoming handset.

When it comes to screen size, a lot of Apple’s enthusiasts were expecting a larger display on the 4S. However, it sported the same 3.5 inch retina display. According to previous reports, the next generation iOS smartphone would sport a 4 inch display. Now, reports are claiming that the new handset will sport either 4.2 inch or 4.3 inch display. This would make sense since the competition offers phones sporting larger touch screens. An example is the Samsung Galaxy S2 with its 4.2 inch Super AMOLED Plus display and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus with its 4.65 inch AMOLED display. However, don’t be surprised if the Cupertino firm unveils a new phone sporting the same 3.5 inch retina display or maybe something slightly bigger. Since apps for the smartphone are optimized for this screen size, it would make sense for the company to keep the same format. If ever they release a phone with a 4 inch display, developers would be facing a time-consuming task of redesigning their apps.

Other than a bigger retina display, the iPhone 5 is said to support HSPA+ technology. The previous model only supported HSDPA/HSUPA 3G connectivity that allowed users to download at 14.4 mbps. With HSPA+ support, this would mean that the new phone would allow users to download at speeds of up to 21 mbps. This is almost double the internet speed compared to the past model.

RAM plays a significant role when it comes to performance. The 4S sports a 1 GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512 MB of RAM. According to reports, the iPhone 5 will sport 1 GB of RAM. This is twice as much compared to the previous model. When it comes to the phone’s processor, some say that it will sport a quad-core processor. Some believe that its processor will be a minor upgrade of the 4S’ A5 chip. They came to this conclusion when the company released the new iPad. It came packed with the dual-core A5X chip under the hood. The iPad 2 comes packed with the dual-core A5 chip.

When it comes to a release date, reports suggest that the new phone will be released somewhere in between the 10th to the 15th of June during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. If the iPhone 5 is released by then, we’ll finally get to see if these reports are true or not.

iPhone 4 Is Still A Good Choice For You

Apple’s current smartphone is the iPhone 4S. This is the currently the best smartphone the Cupertino firm has to offer. It sports the dual-core A5 chip. This ensures that users enjoy the performance offered by a powerful processor. It also sports the voice-controlled personal assistant Siri. She will do anything from looking for the nearest restaurant in your area or answering any question you throw at her. When it comes to the phone’s overall looks, it looks exactly like its predecessor. You might be interested in getting this new smartphone. However, it is the most expensive phone in Apple’s lineup. If you’re looking for something more affordable, you might be interested in the 4S’ predecessor the iPhone 4.

Now why is this past model still a good choice? One of these reasons has to do with apps. Although this past model does not come with the latest hardware the 4S has to offer, it will still allow you to enjoy from the best mobile applications the App Store has to offer. This includes digital magazines, digital newspapers, eBooks, tools, music, movies, and games. Although you might not be able to play games that put a large demand on the phone’s hardware, everything else will be available. An example is Angry Birds. This is the most popular game across platforms. It does not require dual-core processors to run properly.

Another reason is updates. With other platforms, updates do not roll out to handsets as soon as the update goes live. An example is Android. Android may be the most popular mobile operating system in the world. However, updates do not roll out to smartphones all at the same time. Some devices get updates earlier than others. Some devices get updates later than others. With the iPhone 4, this will not be the case. Once Apple releases an update, their iPhones, iPads, and iPods get the updates as soon as they go live.

One more reason is the phone’s retina display. The competition may offer smartphones sporting 4 inch displays. However, this phone still offers more resolution. With the Samsung Galaxy S2′s 4.3 Super AMOLED Plus display, you get a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. This offers a pixel density of 217 PPI. With the 4th generation iPhone, you get a smaller 3.5 inch display. However, it sports a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels. This offers a pixel density of 330 PPI.

As you can see, the iPhone 4 still offers a number of advantages despite being an older model. This is why it is still a good choice.

Superb Key Features Of The Sony Xperia U

The Sony Xperia U is one of the latest offering of Sony. This is a stylish dual-core and Android smartphone that will allow you to customize it to your hearts content. You can basically change the way the phone look to suit your specific mood. You can do so by changing the phone’s bottom cap and change the color of the phone’s transparent and illuminated bar. You can change the phone’s LED strip to light up when you make or receive a call. This will truly get the attention of the youth or the stylish you.

The phone’s key features are as follows:

- 1GHz dual-core processor

- Android Gingerbread (Upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich)

- Interchangeable color end caps

- 3.5″ display screen with 480 x 854p for its resolution

- Illuminated and flashing plastic strip

If you think about it Sony’s latest Xperia handsets boasts that elegant design and powerful hardware. This is something that we haven’t seen from high-end smartphones recently. Sony made it a point to give their latest Xperia handsets a bit of glitz and glamour by adding interesting color combinations.

The phone’s actual dimensions are 112 x 54 x 12mm and it comes in with a 3.5″ screen. This is considered as the baby amongst its new siblings. The phone is just like the Xperia S and P when it comes to design. They all have that simple curved back and the famous rectangular fronted design. They also boast that matte plastic on their backs and a glass that covers the unit’s screen. You will also find that same transparent white strip that the Xperia S first showed us. This transparent strip lights up when you get incoming calls and notifications. But this handset is quite different from its siblings because you can change the color of the phone’s famous transparent strip.

You can also change the phone’s bottom part and choose a different color. The black version of this handset comes in with a pink colored cap while the white version comes in with a yellow colored cap.

If you look at the phone’s internals you will find that it houses a whopping 1GHz dual-core processor. The latest Android Iteration is not available on this handset yet, but soon you will be able to update its Gingerbread OS to it. You will also get famous PlayStation games on this handset.

The Sony Xperia U is a capable and cool smartphone. It is smaller and lightweight too. But then again don’t let its size fool you because this is a power packed handset (based it on the phone’s key features alone).

iPhone 4S – This Is Your iPhone

You have to agree with me when I say that the iPhone 4S caught a lot of people by surprise. This is because we are all waiting for the release of the iPhone 5 as the successor of the famous iPhone 4. We were given an improved iPhone 4 instead. While we are all initially shocked and disappointed, the iPhone 4S’ amazing top-end features impressed us.

It is not that hard to catalog the changes in the improved iPhone 4. For one, there is the phone improved aperture ration for its 8MP shutter. The phone’s CPU is now upped to dual-core A5 chip. This is the very same processor that powers the iPad 2. With this improved processor, we were given increased graphical processing power of up to seven times faster and smoother than before.

There is also the intelligent Siri (Apple’s new voice recognition service). With this feature you will have your own virtual assistant without having for pay for it. It can make your calls or send your text messages for you too. You can also ask Siri about anything, and Siri will be glad to talk back to you.

The iPhone 4S may have retained the same industrial design as its predecessor, but you will notice minor changes on it. The phone’s design is changed with its new dual-band aerial design. This also changed the antenna gate problem that was present on the iPhone 4. This handset is also the flagship for Apple’s latest iteration the iOS 5. Overall, this makes this handset way smarter and cooler than its predecessor.

Let me describe the phone’s design for you. The top of the handset houses the following: phone’s power/lock button; headphone jack; and microphone for noise cancellation. If you look at its right side, you will notice that it is without any buttons but it is where you will find the phone’s microSIM card slot. The bottom part of the handset is where you will find the Apple connector and its dual speakers. The phone’s left side houses the volume keys and silencer switch. If you are familiar with the design of the iPhone 4, you will notice that is has been slightly moved upwards. This handset features an altered antenna band technology. It moves the gaps that sadly plagued the 4th generation iPhone. It is now located to a less-touchable position.

Now the question is, is this the phone for you? If you liked what I’ve mentioned here, then I think I know your answer.

You simply cannot deny Huawei’s fast emerging status when it comes to delivering powerhouse smartphones. This year Huawei is set to release the Huawei Ascend D Quad XL, their current powerhouse smartphone. And I am talking about a Quad-Core and Ice Cream Sandwich handset.

Huawei plans to expand its share in today’s mobile phone market by giving us competitive design and cutting-edge technology. This also includes top of the line features. Today, Huawei is being deemed as the world’s provider of thinnest and powerful smartphones. This is all thanks to their Ascend P1 S. This is also powered by Android’s latest Iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich. To date, the Ascend P1 S stripped the Motorola Droid Razor of its title as the slimmest phone.

Going back to Huawei’s latest offering the Ascend D Quad XL and as mentioned earlier this is packed with 1.5GHz quad-core processor and the Ice Cream Sandwich. This innovation is indeed the best feature of the new fastest smartphone today.

When it comes to the phone’s design, you will notice a slight resemblance to the famous design of the Samsung Galaxy S2. But this handset ships with slightly rubberized back surface. This is capable of giving you that comfortable and smooth feel that you will love. You will find a slight bump at the phone’s bottom part. The phone’s actual dimensions are 129 x 64 x 10.9mm and it weighs exactly at 150 grams. This is heavier than the Galaxy S2 which weighs in at 116 grams only.

This handset is packed with the best technological elements that the mobile world has to offer. Aside from its powerful processor, this handset ships with 8GB ROM worth of memory and 1GB worth of RAM. With this amount of storage space, you will be able to store large amount of files. The handset comes in with 1280 x 720p touch screen and Dolby Mobile 3.0 Plus for a heavenly audio experience.

You will also get a 1.3 front-facing camera on this and a whopping 8MP rear-facing shutter. Features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and micro MHL-HDMI are also present on this phone. There is also a noise reduction feature dubbed as Audience’s earSmart dual microphone on this phone.

These features make this handset as the most practical, functional, and flexible smartphone to date. There are most spectacular features that you will love on Huawei’s Powerhouse smartphone, the Huawei Ascend D Quad XL.

iPhone 5 – Sporting A New 4″ Screen Or The Old 3.5″ Screen?

These days there are more and more mobile phone buyers who are looking for a bigger display. This is evident in the success of the Samsung Galaxy S2. The Korean tech giant has sold millions upon millions of its flagship since its arrival in early 2011. One of the reasons why buyers were attracted to this Android handset is its massive display. This offered more real estate to touch, tap, and flick. In addition, it allowed users to enjoy more from their pictures, movies, and games. Since the competition offered bigger touch screens, many wonder if the iPhone 5 would sport the same screen size. Let’s try and find out.

Foxconn is the largest member of Apple’s supply line. According to sources within Foxconn’s factories, the new iOS-powered smartphone will sport a display with a screen size of 4 inches or even more. What are the advantages of this bigger retina display? Apple fans just can’t get enough of apps they download from the App Store. These apps allow them to play games, read popular publications, read bestsellers, watch movies, and listen to their music. Imagine doing all of these on a bigger display on the iPhone 5. Apps would be more enjoyable. You will enjoy more from movies. You will enjoy more from reading articles from the web, digital magazines, digital newspapers, and eBooks. Gamers will enjoy more from games. Furthermore, users would have more room for touch features.

As good as this sounds, there is also a large possibility the Cupertino firm will unveil a phone sporting the same 3.5 inch retina display. The reason behind this also has to do with apps. Currently, apps for iPhones are optimized for a 3.5 inch display. If the company were to release the iPhone 5 sporting a bigger 4 inch screen with more resolution, this would be a nightmare for app developers. This would mean that developers would have to redesign their apps for the larger panel. This could take them a lot of time. This also means that app would initially not look good on the new smartphone. Proof of this can be seen on the new iPad. Applications optimized for the iPad 2 were not optimized for a retina display. Since the new iPad comes with a retina display, iPad 2-optimized apps did not look good on the new tablet.

Will the iPhone 5 sport the same 3.5 inch retina display or a bigger 4 inch touch screen? Unfortunately, there’s no way to know for certain. We’ll just have to wait until the smartphone is officially unveiled.

Samsung Galaxy S3 – Coming Soon?

It not that easy to just sit back and contain yourself when you’re eager and dying to own Samsung’s next big thing the Samsung Galaxy S3. Yes, this is yet another sequel to the famous Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S2. It is also hard to stop hoping that Samsung (South Korean Manufacturer) will cave in and release this much awaited handset to us.

There are so many unanswered questions like what are the phone’s specifications? Or what new features can we expect on this handset? We all have to be contented with what little information or speculations that Samsung will leak to the public. That is if they even dare to do so.

As you can see, these are just some of the most pressing questions that a lot of Samsung aficionados are asking the mobile giant Samsung. Sad to say, Samsung is still playing hard and keeping their cards close to their chests. But then again, we can also expect that this famous Galaxy S3 will come out soon enough.

Talking about the phone’s release date, there was a rumor that says this handset will be out last March 30. But it came and it passed and there is still no Galaxy S3 launched or even unveiled. The good news is, even if the phone is a no-show, some are still hoping that it will be out this April. This date is suggested by an interview with Samsung’s President Kim Young-Ha (Samsung China President). There is also a big rumor that consensus appears to favor May 22, 2012 as the phone’s actual unveiling and release date. This is via Samsung’s special event which is said to take place in London, UK. However, Samsung said that they will advise us via their Twitter account once a release date is confirmed. Now, that is something that we can look forward to. Keep our eyes glued to their Twitter account.

Let us now move to the phone’s potential specifications (although it is not that confirmed yet), we can expect that this will ship with the latest Android Iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich. There is a possible inclusion of a powerful Quad-Core processor, perhaps a 1.5 or 1.8GHZ Samsung Exynos. There are also some that says this handset will ship with an upgraded 12MP shutter. If this is true, then that’s one mighty shutter for the 3rd generation Galaxy S. We are hoping that this handset ships with 4G LTE and even NFC. The phone may also feature a 4.8″ Super AMOLED full HD and with 3D capabilities display screen.

Whether this handset is landing sometime soon or not, we all just have to be patient for it is confirmed. The Samsung Galaxy S3 exists and there’s nothing stopping Samsung to push through with the much awaited release of the Galaxy S3.

Sony Xperia P And Sony Xperia U – New Xperia Siblings

Sony introduced a couple of Sony branded handsets during the Mobile World Congress 2012 held in Barcelona Spain. Two of them are called the Sony Xperia P and Sony Xperia U.

The Sony Xperia P comes with a 4″ Reality display also known as WhiteMagic technology. The phone’s actual screen brightness is improved with this. It uses a fourth sub pixel to the conventional RGB set-up or the so called white pixel. With this you can expect excellent contrast and brightness as well. Before a phone’s brightness is not that good with their so called older Reality displays. You will be able to see everything in crisp and bright colors even if you are under heavy sunlight.

The phone ships with an aluminum unibody and that same futuristic design that you loved on the Sony Xperia S. The said transparent strip is now available in three colors.

This handset can shoot videos at 1080p with its amazing 8MP camera. The phone comes in with added power called the ST Ericsson NovaThor U8500. I am sure that you are surprised by the mere sight of the word Ericsson. In a small part, Ericsson is still a part of these new Sony only branded handsets. The phone ships with a micro HDMI port as well. You can easily hook this handset to you HDTV and see everything in a bigger picture or view.

You will also like its NFC connectivity feature. This makes this handset compatible with Sony’s Smart Tags. You will also get a SmartDock with this handset. The handset may now ship with Android Gingerbread OS but later this year you will be able to receive an Ice Cream Sandwich update on this handset.

Let us now talk about the Sony Xperia U. This is a bit smaller than its brother the Xperia P. It comes in with a 3.5″ Reality screen (FWVGA resolution). It ships with a 5MP camera only but it can shoot videos at 1080p. It uses Exmor R Sensor as well.

You will also get an in-ear plugs and tangle free cables Smart Headset with this handset. You will also get an application launcher called the SmartKey. The same futuristic look is available on this handset as well. Meaning you will be seeing that transparent strip on this handset too. Unlike the Xperia P, you will only be able to see its backlight changing its color to simply match the phone’s current wallpaper. If you feel like changing the phone’s color, you can do so by simply detaching the phone’s bottom plastic cover. This is made to be interchangeable and it comes in pink and yellow colors. You can also choose to stick with its default black bottom cover. This also ships with Android Gingerbread and like its brother you will be able to update its OS with the latest Android Iteration later this year.

These are two of the latest Sony smartphones; these are the Sony Xperia P and Sony Xperia U.

Huawei Ascend D Quad – Mind-Blowing Features

Last February during the Mobile World Congress 2012 (MWC 2012), Huawei introduced their handsets and one of them was the Huawei Ascend D Quad. Huawei’s main goal is to give the hungry mobile phone users a powerful smartphone to date. They don’t care that much for the aesthetic aspect of their phones, what matters to them the most is that their users will enjoy a powerful and super fast handset.

If you are seeing this handset for the very first time, you will notice a resemblance in design with the famous Samsung flagship the Samsung Galaxy S2. The phone is light and it weighs exactly at 130 grams only. But the phone’s best and greatest feature lies on its powerful 1.2GHz quad-core processor and backed up with 1GB worth of RAM. Not to mention that this handset is pre-installed with the latest Android Iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich. You will notice how powerful and slick this handset is when you use its camera. You can capture images and the handset will process it in a blink of one’s eye.

Going back to the phone’s best feature (its processor), Huawei’s Mr. Richard Yu stated that their processor is faster than the famous Nvidia Tegra 3. With the phone’s powerful processor comes the concern of battery life and actual power consumption. It’s too early to believe them but Huawei promises that their handsets are capable of giving its users days of battery life. This phone ships with Li-Ion 1800 mAH standard battery.

The phone ships with 8MP camera sensor (3264 x 2448 pixels). You will also get dual-LED flash and auto-focus on this handset. With this, you are guaranteed superb quality photos. You can also expect good quality pictures even if there’s poor lighting condition. This is all thanks to the phone’s powerful processor. You can aim and shoot in breeze.

The phone comes in with 4.5″ IPS + LCD capacitive touch screen (1280 x 720p). You won’t see any wasted space on this handset. It is amazing how Huawei was able to pack a huge screen into this tiny and slim handset. It measures exactly at 129 x 64 x 8.9mm and it weighs exactly at 130 grams only. It may not be an AMOLED display but the phone is capable of giving you vibrant pictures and views with the help of its 326 ppi or pixels per inch density.

As you can see, these are just some of the best features that you can expect on the Huawei Ascend D Quad.

Samsung Galaxy S2 And Samsung Galaxy Note – Samsung’s Cream Of The Crop Handsets

The Samsung Galaxy S2 was released mid 2011 while its huge brother the Samsung Galaxy Note was released last quarter of 2011. To date, the Galaxy S2 sold more than 30 million units while the Galaxy Note sold over 1 million units from its release date. This is how famous these Samsung handsets are. Let us now talk about the technical specifications and features of these famous devices. Read on.

When it comes to form factor and make the Galaxy Note is way taller and wider than Samsung current flagship the S2. It is 5.78″ tall and 3.26″ wide. The S2 comes in at 4.9″ tall and 2.6″ wide. The Note’s thickness is at 0.38″ while the S2′s thickness is at 0.33″ only. For an enormous handset the Note is quite slim and it is only.02 thicker than the S2. When it comes to weight the Note is noticeably heavier at 116 grams as opposed to 116 grams weight of its famous brother.

Both of these handsets are being powered by dual-core processors. The Note uses a 1.4GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor while the S2 uses a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor. There’s a minor difference when it comes to their processing prowess. They both use Mali 400 MP GPU for their graphical acceleration. So if you pit the two handsets against each other, it is quite evident that the Galaxy Note is a far more powerful handset than Samsung’s latest flagship.

Let us now move on to their displays. The Note ships with a 5.3″ Super AMOLED display (1280 x 800p at 285ppi pixel density) while the S2 ships with a 4.3″ Super AMOLED display (800 x 480p at 217ppi pixel density). They both use the same technology “Super AMOLED” for their displays. They are also being protected with the same Gorilla Glass displays.

Both of these handsets sport a whopping 8MP camera and 2MP front-facing camera. They both have LED flash and Autofocus. They can also record HD videos at 1080p at 30 frames per second. Features in the likes of geo-tagging, face and smile detection, and touch focus are included as well.

When it comes to their Operating System, they both ship with Android Gingerbread OS. But the good news is both are also upgradable to Android’s latest Iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich. They also have Samsung’s TouchWiz version 4.0 that features redefined interface.

It is not that hard to understand why these handsets are so famous right now. They are both powerful on their own and they have that selling prowess that not even the famous iPhone can beat.

These are Samsung’s best-selling and best smartphones to date; these are the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Samsung Galaxy Note.

Sony Xperia Sola – Floating Touch Feature Explained

After the successful release of the Sony Xperia S (the first Sony only branded handset), Sony introduced another Sony only branded Xperia handset. This is the Sony Xperia Sola. This is also the first Xperia handset which is pre-installed with a cool new feature called the floating touch technology. Well talk more about the said feature later but first allow me to describe to you what this phone is all about.

This handset ships with a 3.7″ capacitive touch screen. This will also allow your finger to register anything of up to 20mm away and above the phone’s display. This is one cool feature alright. The sad news is this amazing feature is limited to the phone’s built-in browser and live wall papers.

When it comes to hardware, this phone ships with 1GHz dual-core processor and Mali 400 GPU and packed with 512MB worth of RAM. You will also enjoy 8GB worth of internal storage. With its microSD card slot, you can add more storage space for all of your files.

The phone ships with 5MP camera and can shoot videos at 720p. It comes with 1320 mAh embedded battery and it features NFC too. The phone ships with Android Gingerbread for its OS but you will be able to upgrade it to Android’s latest Iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich second or third quarter of this year.

Now, let’s move on to the phone’s latest and innovative feature the “floating touch”. As mentioned earlier, this technology will allow you to control things without touching the phone’s screen. All you have to do is to hover your finger up to 20mm above the phone’s screen and you will be able to control this handset.

Sony’s research Engineer Erik Hellman and one of the inventors of this new technology explained this in a detailed blog. But let me summarize it for you. The said Floating Touch technology combined existing capacitive touch screen implementations. You need conductivity in order for a capacitive touch screen to function right. However, there are two types of display which differs in the signal strength that it receives.

There are self capacitive displays that boast powerful signals. This then can detect a human’s finger from 22mm but they have limitations as well. They also do not support multitouch.

There is also the multi capacitive touch screens which work with multitouch. However, in order for them to narrow down an exact position they have to reduce the signal strength in order for them to register a hovering finger.

This is where Sony decided to bring the two together in their floating touch display. Sony explained that by levering the existing capacitive touch sensor and by lowering threshold for their touch registration, it is possible to differentiate the floating touch and conventional touch. The only drawback is, the floating touch is limited to the phone’s browser and live wallpapers only. But then again, Sony promises to open up APIs for their developers to upgrade this Gingerbread device to Ice Cream Sandwich.

These are the features of Sony Xperia Sola and its floating touch explained.

Latest Reports About The iPhone 5

Apple is still quiet about the actual specs and features of the iPhone 5. Because of this, tons of rumors are now out. There are so many speculations and rumors about it that it is just too hard for us not to get all too excited about it.

There is one rumor about Apple ordering 4.6″ screens for the 5th generation iPhone. Again, it is hard to believe it since the source of the news is unnamed.

After this rumor came out, another report stated that Apple might keep its 3.5″ screen for their latest handset. But with it, new features will be added on this handset. There are also some who says that this handset will be released come October of this year. There is also a rumor that suggests this handset will sport a 4″ screen and will keep the same shape and design of its famous predecessors.

There are speculations that say this phone will ship with 4G LTE, but if this is true then the latest iPhone needs to be thicker or bigger than its predecessors. This is because it needs to house a larger circuit board and bigger battery as well. But then again, this is the very reason why Apple did not implement the said LTE technology on the iPhone 4S.

Apple also applied for new patent application. This is for their 3D imaging camera that applies both for their videos and still photography. The phone’s new camera will incorporate depth-detection sensors in the likes of RADAR, LIDAR, and Laser. This will then create 3D imagery via stereo disparity maps. The camera is also said to utilize advanced luminance and chrominance for its superior color accuracy. If you look at the patent application, then this could be a potential new feature of the iPhone 5.

There is also a huge buzz regarding a universal remote control feature on this new iPhone. Again, this is based on reports about Apple’s latest patent application. The said handset might get this new universal remote feature in the future. If this is true, then you can easily control your HDTV and other entertainment devices with this handset. Now, that is a new and cool feature indeed.

One of the coolest features that you want to be included on this handset is the iWallet. This will allow the phone’s user to control their financial accounts while only using this handset. This will also allow you to complete financial transactions (via credit cards) through your handset and via the phone’s NFC technology.

Impressive Design And Features Of The LG Optimus 4X HD

During the MWC 2012 in Barcelona Spain, LG introduced its quad-core handset the LG Optimus 4X HD. This opened the door for LG as it enters the race for the best quad-core handset this year. This handset is all set up to go against new quad-core handsets in the likes of HTC One X and Huawei Ascend D Quad.

So what is so special about the Optimus 4X HD? Let me tell you about them. This handset features Nvidia’s powerful Tegra 3 (1.5GHz quad-core processor) with 4-PLUS-1 technology. And that’s not all; it comes packed with 1GB worth of RAM, 16GB worth of internal memory, and a whopping 4.7″ True HD IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720. And if you think that it ends there, then wait until I tell you about its 8MP camera with video recording capability in full HD. It also features the latest Android Iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich and NFC.

If you look at the handset up close, you will notice how it is capable of giving you that premium look. This is all because of its dual metal rims that runs all through out the sides of the phone. This also happens to sandwich its prism details which is also LG’s latest signature design.

If you look at the phone’s back, you will notice its well textured back cover with tapered sides. The phone is slim but with the said design it makes the handset slimmer. This contradicts the actual size of the handset. The phone’s case is made out of plastic but it exudes that premium look and it is also sturdy.

One of the best features of this handset it is pre-installed with Android’s latest iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich. The phone’s three buttons (touch) are located at the bottom part of the screen. This replaces the physical buttons on previous Android devices.

The phone’s touch screen is known to be quite responsive and will give you no trouble in picking up even if you use lighter gestures or finger movements. The phone’s power is evident with its quad-core processor. You can skip through the phone’s home screens and app trays without the phone slowing down on you.

With this handset, you will be able to watch in full HD video. With the phone’s True HD IPS screen you can zoom in and out of video even while it is playing. And again, you won’t experience the phone slowing down on you.

These are just some of the juicy features that you can expect and enjoy on the LG Optimus 4X HD.

Nokia Lumia 800 – Impressive Design And Features

Nokia’s entire future depended on the Nokia Lumia 800. This is Nokia’s first attempt in winning back their long lost status. This is also their very first Windows Phone device. If you are a big follower of Nokia, then I am sure that you will notice how Nokia tried to stand out in an era where Android handsets and iPhones are ruling the market for today’s modern smartphones.

Let’s now talk about the phone’s design. You do not have to blink twice and yes you are right, the phone’s design looks like the only MeeGo handset by Nokia. I am talking about the once famous Nokia N9. The only difference is the Lumia 800 is a bit heavier than the N9. Its actual dimensions are: 116.5 x 61.2 x 12.1 mm and it weighs exactly at 142 grams only. The N9′s dimensions are: 116.5 x 61.2 x 12.1mm and it weighs exactly at 135 grams only. Not to mention that the Lumia 800 comes in with a smaller screen at 3.7″ only.

The phone’s shell is made out of polycarbonate plastic. But don’t be fooled by the word plastic, this is because the phone is quite solid for its built. It comes in with matt-finish that is capable of giving you that premium look and feeling. You get that premium look without the help of fancy aluminum casing.

You will be able to enjoy tube-like rounded edges on this phone. This will give you that comfortable feel and hold. The phone’s camera placement is quite smarter than other handsets out there. Your fingers won’t hinder with the phone’s camera at all. This is the same with the phone’s capacitive touch buttons, they all feel natural and your fingers won’t end up pressing these buttons by accident.

When it comes to the phone’s 3.7 inch screen, you will love how its ClearBlack AMOLED (480 x 800) display is capable of giving you vivid and lively colors. This is also possible without you seeing lurid or dull colors. The phone’s high contrast Windows Phone interface blends perfectly into the handset. The phone’s excellent viewing angle will simply make you salivate like never before.

Even if this handset is being limited by chassis guidelines for Windows Phone its 480 x 800p resolution is quite decent. Yes it is nothing close to Apple’s 690 x 960 screen resolution, but it is quite decent for a Nokia handset.

Nokia 808 PureView – Packed With 41MP Shutter

Just when you think that Nokia has dealt their best cards to the smartphone race, then think twice! Enter the Nokia 808 PureView, this is the latest ace of Nokia that boasts a whopping (if not crazy) 41MP camera. Whoa that’s right! You read it right “a whopping 41MP shutter”. This handset is the successor of the Nokia N8 which has a good 12MP camera. It also makes the Nokia N series proud of this new camera phone on the block. Truly, this is a great treat for those who want extra more in a gadget.

It has a multi-touch AMOLED Corning Gorilla Glass capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels and a screen display measuring 4 inches. This is a good screen size for viewing full HD videos and movies. The phone measures a height of 123.9mm, width of 60.2mm, and thickness of 13.9mm. The phone’s weight is a good 169g only.

If you look at the back of the phone, you will notice that it has a bit of a bump, and that bump happens to be the main weapon of the 808 PureView. It comes with a high resolution 41 megapixel camera sensor that features the following: 1/1.2 sensor size; Neutral Density filter; and up to 3x lossless digital zoom. This makes the Nokia 808 PureView stand out and shine from the rest of its competitions. This is coupled with the renowned Carl Zeiss optics lens, Xenon flash, and Nokia’s PureView imaging technology. You can bet that even the high-end digital cameras at present will turn green with envy. When recording video this handset features lossless digital zoom, 1080p at 30 frames per second, and 4x video zoom. At low light, you can use its LED flash to compensate for poor lighting condition.

It has the latest 1.3GHz ARM 11 CPU utilizing Nokia Belle (formerly Symbian Belle) for its OS. The phone’s internal memory is 16 GB, which is a lot on my book. For those who think that this is not enough, then the phone’s microSD card slot is expandable up to 48 GB worth of memory.

The handset supports IM services (i.e. Nokia Chat, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Google talk, MySpace and AIM). The phone’s battery life is up to 540 hours when in standby mode or 3G mode. Talk time can last up to 6 hours and 50 minutes on 3G.

We still have to wait a little more as the expected release date for Nokia 808 PureView is on May 2012. So keep your eyes peeled for this one!

Know More About The BlackBerry Bold 9900

Compared to popular smartphones such as the iOS-powered Apple iPhone 4s or the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy S2, RIM’s BlackBerry Bold 9900 cannot compete when it comes to powerful hardware. However, Research In Motion’s high-end handsets seems to be able to keep up with the competition. If you’re wondering why this is, let’s find out why people like the Canadian-made handset.

First of all, the phone comes with the highly popular mobile instant messaging service called the BlackBerry Messenger or BBM for short. This mobile IM allows users to chat with friends who also have RIM handsets just like anybody would on personal computers. Since the phone comes with a QWERTY keyboard found below the phone’s display, it messaging has never been this easy.

Aside from the convenience of having a QWERTY keyboard and the ability to chat from wherever you may be, this mobile IM is also cost effective. Unlike text messaging, you will not get charged extra for going over your allotted monthly text messages. You can chat until you drop without getting penalized since chatting on the BBM is coursed through the phone’s 3G internet connection. Better yet, you will not be charged a single cent if you’re connected to a public Wi-Fi hotspot.

Since RIM has rolled out the BlackBerry OS version 7.1 update for the Bold 9900, there are number of new features that you will enjoy from the update. One of these features is having the luxury of using the phone as a mobile hotspot. This is ideal when there are no hotspots available in your area. All you have to do is make use of the phone’s 3G internet connection. It will allow you to provide internet connections to as much as 5 devices via W-Fi. This includes laptops, tablets, and other phones.

Another new feature of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is Wi-Fi Calling. This feature will allow you to enjoy more from calls without having to go over your monthly allotted minutes. Calls are coursed through the internet via a Wi-Fi connection. You can make use of public hotspots or your home wireless network. With option, you never have to worry about paying extra for going over your monthly minutes.

The update will also unlock more of the phone’s NFC (Near Field Communication) capabilities. It will allow you to transfer files, invite friends to chat, share contact information, and permanently pair with NFC-enabled Bluetooth devices. All of this can be enjoyed by simply tapping one NFC-enabled to device against one another.

These are the features that people like about the BlackBerry Bold 9900.

BlackBerry Curve 9360 – Amazing Features On This Budget-Friendly Handset

These days, people talk more about the flagships in the smartphone market. These include the HTC Sensation, the Apple iPhone 4S, and the Samsung Galaxy S2. These phones sport the most powerful hardware mobile technology has to offer. They sport dual-core processors, cameras with high megapixel counts, and high-resolution displays. Since these smartphones are so popular, why don’t we see everybody making calls on manufacturer flagships? The reason is their price tags. These phones will cost you an arm and a leg. This means not everybody can afford these high-end handsets. This is why many people opt to get budget phones instead. One of these is the BlackBerry Curve 9360 by RIM (Research In Motion). Despite the smartphone’s affordable price tag, it comes with a number of features that people love.

One of these features is the BlackBerry Messenger or BBM for short. If you’re not familiar with this service, it is a mobile instant messaging service exclusive to RIM’s handsets. It allows users to chat with friends who also have Research In Motion’s handsets just like they would on their personal computers and laptops. Since this service is so popular, you may be wondering how much it would cost to make use of the service. We’re happy to tell you that the cost of using the BBM is minimal. Sending and receiving messages are coursed through the phone’s 3G internet connection. Since data sent and received is at a minimal, you don’t have to worry about going over your monthly data allotment on the Curve 9360. If you make use of public hotspots found all over, you don’t have to worry about paying a single cent while making use of the service.

Expected Features On The iPhone 5

The plot thickens as the iPhone 5′s impending arrival is drawing near. Speculations about the phone’s potential features are just pouring by the day. People are desperately waiting for an official announcement from Apple’s big wigs. All we know is that the said iPhone 5 may actually come out this Summer of 2012. Let me summarize the potential features of the 5th generation iPhone. Read on.

Apple is not keen on revealing the actual specs of this phone for now. But we all know that on the day of its unveiling, that is the only time that we will hear everything from them. One of the rumors states that it will sport the latest A5 chip, better camera, and 4″ display screen.

Let us now talk about the iOS 5. During the WWDC back in 2011, Apple announced the arrival of the iOS 5. This user interface is mainly based on one’s direct manipulation while using multi-touch movements. It is also expected to come out with over 200 new features. It is also noted to come with improved notification system, iMessage, and News stand.

The iMessage is created to compete with BlackBerry’s BBM. This is said to allow Apple iPod Touch, iPad, and iPhone users to communicate with each other. It is also integrated into the phone’s SMS and MMS application.

Let’s move on to the iCloud service. This is also a feature that might come with the handset. This is best for wireless remote access directly from one’s mobile device or computer. This is also expected to automatically sync with the handset. You can store files (i.e. photos, documents, apps, and more) with this feature without having to use your phone’s memory.

The iPhone 5 is also said to ship with Apple’s A5 chip for its processor or maybe Apple is cooking up a newer processor for this handset. Who knows? It can have a dual-core or even a quad-core with 1.2 or 1.5GHz processor speed with a 1GB worth of RAM. Again, nobody really knows. One of the most recent rumors about this handset is that it may come with a bigger display screen (perhaps a 4.0″ screen). And the famous Korean tech giant LG may be behind the production of the said screen. And the best rumor to date is that this handset will not take the same old form of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.

As you can see, it is not that easy to be contented with whatever speculations we are hearing. It is best that we actually wait for Apple’s big wigs to dish out the whole story whenever they are ready to do it. But then again, for now these are potential features that we can expect on the iPhone 5.

The Improved 4th Generation Iphone The iPhone 4S

Last year many were taken aback when the iPhone 4S came out. A lot of people were expecting the release of the iPhone 5. The new iPhone received mixed reviews from majority of iPhone fanatics and critics. There are also some critics who criticized the handset for being a replica of the 4th generation iPhone. If you think about it, this is not the first time that Apple has chosen to simply make an upgrade of their existing device. This happened with the 3G and the 3GS.

But if you look at the internals of the latest iPhone, then you will notice that there are major changes and healthy improvements done on this handset. One of the most important upgrade is its improved 8MP camera. The older one sports a 5MB shutter only. There is also the phone’s Dual-Core processor. The new offerings doesn’t end there, it is now equipped with the latest iOS 5 and featuring the promising and intelligent Siri. Yes, the iPhone is not that behind when it comes to the new features of the 4S. The only major difference is that Siri is not available on the 4th generation iPhone.

Apple has decided to keep the famous industrial design of the iPhone 4. This is also a frustration for some Apple fans. This is because you cannot tell the iPhone 4 from the iPhone 4S. The only time that you can do so is if you put the two side by side and you start accessing the handsets. Both of the handsets are capable of giving you that excellent feel when you’re holding them. It may come or feel bulky at times, but this is where the beauty of the handset lies. And beside a thinner phone doesn’t really count when you are talking about a powerful smartphone.

Another feature that the latest handset kept is its 3.5″ screen. We all want to have a bigger screened handset in the likes of Samsung Galaxy S2 or even the Samsung Galaxy Note. But Apple made it a point to keep it the way people liked it. Going back to the phone’s display, Apple kept the famous Retina Display on this handset. It remained beautiful just like handsets with Super AMOLED screens.

Last but not the least, this handset sports two antennas. The said antennas are also capable of choosing the best signal when you need it the most. We all know that a lot of Apple users are complaining about the poor antenna on the 4th generation iPhone. This time, Apple made sure that they address the problem and came out with a bright solution.

This is the improved iPhone 4, this is the iPhone 4S.
