The Blackberry Bold 9900-One Reason SMS Is Soaring In Popularity

The days when mobile phones were used predominantly for conducting voice calls have disappeared. Modern mobile handsets such as the Blackberry Bold 9900 enable users to keep in touch with friends and family by using a variety of different methods including e mail and IM services. A recent report suggest that SMS messaging is currently the favoured method for people to keep in touch with one another, especially with teenagers.

Last year a report was conducted that found that teenagers are sending more text messages than ever before. The Nielsen report found that the average teenager was sending 3417 texts per month. At first glance this number seems very high but when you think about it carefully it equates to around 7 texts per waking hour which actually seems a very realistic figure. Excellent new models such as the Blackberry Bold 9900 and the iPhone 4S make sending texts quicker and easier than ever and this can be partly attributed towards the rise in popularity of the SMS message. The reports also discovered that female teenagers send more messages than their male counterparts with an average of nearly 4000 compared with just 2815 for the boys. The trend of sending messages has had a negative effect on the amount of time that teenagers spend talking on the phone. In 2010 teenagers spent around 685 minutes talking on their mobile phones but in 2011 that figure dropped to just 572 minutes.

Mobile phone manufacturers are fully aware of the popularity of messaging services and many modern handsets boast excellent facilities that help to make them the perfect handsets for composing text messages. The Blackberry Bold 9900 is arguably the ultimate handset for messaging. Blackberry devices are renowned for their messaging facilities and the Bold 9900 is the flagship device in the range. A responsive Qwerty keypad enables the speedy composition of texts and an optical trackpad enables users to perform precise editing on message. If you prefer to trade a physical keypad for a larger screen then the Samsung Galaxy Note is a superb phone. The model features a large 5.3 inch screen which means that it can accommodate a virtual keypad with large keys that help to eliminate typing errors. There is even an adjustment available to enable users to customise the keypad so it is more suited for single handed use.

Many manufacturers focus their attention on providing superb messaging facilities and the Blackberry Bold 9900 and the Samsung galaxy Note are great examples of this. The Blackberry will appeal to fans of physical keypads while the Samsung Galaxy note provides a great virtual keypad on its excellent display.

The Blackberry Bold 9900 and the Samsung Galaxy Note are available now.

The New Blackberry Bold 9790 A Premier Phone For audio Performance

RIM have expanded their Bold range of mobile phones with the introduction of the new Blackberry Bold 9790. This impressive new model is arguably one of the most attractive Blackberry devices ever released and sports the very latest version of the popular Blackberry operating system. We have a look at audio and video playback features incorporated on this impressive new model.

Thanks to a handy stereo jack socket the Blackberry Bold 9790 can be used as a portable music player. The phone does come supplied with a basic set of headphones but user can change these for a pair of their own choice thanks to the universal nature of the socket. The music player feature is very similar to versions that we have experienced on many other Blackberry models although the new operating system has improved the visual appearance of the interface and icons. When it comes to playing a track you can either search directly for the song or browse through the album, artist or genre categories that are automatically sorted. A useful feature is the ability to create custom playlists while on the move which means that you can make lists of songs suitable for different uses such as gym music or party songs. Full cover art is supported by the phone so you are presented with an attractive picture of the album or single cover when listening to a track. If you like to adjust the sound settings then there is a selection of preset equaliser settings that can be selected. The Bold 9790 offers a very impressive music player which can be run in the background which enables you to conduct other tasks on your handset while enjoying your favourite music.

Video playback on the Blackberry Bold 9790 is equally as impressive with some great features that really benefit the user. Although the phone is not the ideal device for playing back movies thanks to its smaller than average screen it still performs admirably in this area. A multitude of video file formats are supported by the phone including DivX, Xvid and WMV and all files that we tested on the device played back in high quality with no problems. The models supports files up to 720P resolution meaning that users can enjoy High Definition quality from this device. The screen on this handset is a landscape design which means that you do not have to turn the phone onto its side to enjoy widescreen playback. This feature makes the viewing of clips a very quick and straightforward affair. When playing back a clip if you tap the screen or a button an array of playback controls appears on screen and also a useful option which allows you to adjust the video so that it entirely fills the screen to maximise your viewing experience.

Although the Blackberry Bold 9790 is not aimed at the multi media market it does perform superbly in this area. Audio facilities are excellent with a simple interface and a high quality of sound while the video options also offer great playback and easy operation.

Web Browsing An Easy Task On The Blackberry Bold 9790

The new Blackberry Bold 9790 is a mobile device that can be used for a multitude of different tasks. The model offers some superb multi media features and some excellent social networking facilities. The model is also superb for online use so we take a closer look at the web browser used on this handset.

Blackberry devices have gained a reputation for offering web browsing that is relatively slow and complicated so it is refreshing to see that the Bold 9790 incorporates a browser that is both fast and easy to use. A wealth of features are on hand to ensure the user can enjoy the best possible online experience. The browser supports multi touch which allows users to zoom into segments of text by using the pinch to zoom method. What this means is that rather than simply double tapping the screen to achieve a set level of magnification the user can move their finger and thumb together so they can zoom in at the exact level that they require. Text Reflow is also supported by the Bold 9790 which makes reading text when zoomed in a simpler task. Text Reflow is a formatting feature that automatically adjusts text to fill the screen. Without this feature when you zoom in you would need to scroll sideways to read the remainder of the sentence you are viewing. Text Reflow adjusts everything so you can continue to simply scroll up and down with no text missing to the side of the screen.

The Blackberry Bold 9790 does incorporate a capacitive touchscreen but there is also an optical trackpad located beneath the screen. This trackpad is perfect tool for web browsing as it offers precise navigation similar to what you would expect from a mouse on a desktop computer. When you choose to use this type of navigation rather than the screen a pointer automatically appears on the screen. The one negative aspect to the browser on the Bold 9790 is that it offers no Flash support. This means that flash video that is embedded in any site cannot be played back which is a slight disappointment however his can be forgiven however considering how well the phone performs in all other areas. Users should have no concerns about getting a good internet connection with the phone as it sports multiple connectivity options. For the bests speeds users can connect to a WiFi network while the phone can use 3G networks if you are looking for a mobile connection.

The Blackberry Bold 9790 is a high quality mobile phone that offers a superb web browsing. Although the facility does lack Flash support it still offers a range of features that help to ensure that it provides a near faultless online experience.

Great Camera Stands Out On The Blackberry Bold 9790

The new Blackberry Bold 9790 is the latest smartphone to be released by RIM. The model joins other devices such as the Bold 9900 at the very top of the range produced by RIM. One area that has really impressed us with this new model is the excellent camera facility that it incorporates so here we take a look at this facility in a little more detail.

The Blackberry Bold 9790 comes fitted with a 5 mega pixel digital camera. Although this standard of resolution is not as high as is available on some smartphones it is still the maximum amount that you will find on a Blackberry device. Where this model differs from other models is that it uses an auto focus facility to help you achieve the highest quality results. In addition to the auto focus feature there is also a Face Detection setting which makes the handset automatically focus on peoples faces within the shot. When you actually take a photograph there are there is a choice of three buttons that you can use to capture the image. In addition to the dedicated camera key you can also press the optical trackpad beneath the screen or use the shutter key displayed on the screen. The Bold 9790 presents the user with a simple interface that is very easy to navigate. From this interface you can access a number of preset scene settings and also toggle the LED flash facility. There is also a button which enables you to adjust more advanced settings such as picture resolution.

The thing that impresses us most about the camera feature on the Blackberry Bold 9790 is the overall quality of the final image. In the shots that we tested we found that there was an extremely high level detail in all shots, even when lighting conditions were less than perfect. Colours are reproduced very well and there are minimal levels of noise. In the past Blackberry devices have been disappointing in the camera department so we were both pleased and surprised to find such quality on this model. The handset can also capture video sequences in VGA resolution however this material does not match the high standards that are set by the still camera. Video is captured at a frame rate of 30 per second and boasts additional features such as continuous auto focus and a video light for filming in darker conditions.

The Blackberry Bold 9790 might not eclipse the Bold 9900 in some areas but it outshines its sister model when it comes to still photography. A simple interface makes capturing the moment very easy and the results are the best we have ever experienced from a Blackberry device.

The Blackberry Bold 9790 and the Blackberry Bold 9900 are available now.

RIM Unveil Two Crackers-The Blackberry Bold 9900 And The Bold 9790

RIM produce several superb Blackberry mobile handsets with the Bold range of models sitting proudly at the very top. Recently we saw the new flagship Bold 9900 model introduced and this has now been joined by a slightly lower specification sibling in the shape of the Bold 9790. We take a look at these two excting models and see how they differ from one another.

Being two of the leading models in the Blackberry portfolio means that these models offer impressive chipsets that help them achieve very impressive performance speeds. The Bold 9900 is the most powerful device in the line up and sports a 1.2Ghz processor that is coupled with a hefty 768MB of RAM memory. This power combined with the improved power management offered by the Blackberry 7.0 operating system makes this the speediest Blackberry we have ever used. The new Bold 9790 uses the same RAM memory as the 9900 but comes fitted with a slightly smaller 1Ghz processor. Despite not being as fast as its big brother the 9790 still impresses with its general speed in all areas including multi tasking. When it comes to browsing the internet on these models both phones offer identical connectivity options to help ensure that there is always a connection available regardless of your location. All three recognised speeds of WiFi are supported by the phones and both can connect to a 3G network if you are on the move or have no access to a WiFi network. Even in the absence of 3G the models both sport EDGE and GPRS connections which offer great data transfer speeds.

The Blackberry Bold 9900 uses the higher quality screen of the two devices. The 640 x 480 resolution display measures 2.8 inches and is the best Blackberry screen that we have ever encountered. Thanks to the high resolution the phone is capable of showing a pixel density of 286 per inch which puts the model in a similar category to phones like the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in this area. The Bold 9790 makes use of a smaller 2.45 inch screen with a lower resolution of 480 x 360 pixels which enables the model to display a respectable 245 pixels per inch. Both of the two screens are capacitive displays which means that users can navigate either directly on the screen itself or by using the optical trackpad which is located just beneath. This dual functionality is superb as on screen navigation is great for some tasks such as web browsing but more precise jobs such as editing documents benefit from the inclusion of the optical trackpad.

The Blackberry Bold 9900 and 9790 are two leading handsets in the range and it is clear to see why. The high quality screens are both impressive while both models offer powerful chipsets that make them the fastest Blackberry devices ever released.

The Blackberry Bold 9900 is available now and the Blackberry Bold 9790 is coming soon.

The Blackberry Bold 9900-No Better Phone Available For Sending Emails

Gone are the days when the mobile phone was only used to conduct calls and send SMS text messages. The modern mobile has access to a variety of other types of communication including social networking services and instant messaging. Another area that has benefitted from advancements in phone technology is the email. This type of message was once used to send text and data between office based computers but modern smartphones can now take advantage of this excellent method of communication. We look at some phones with the best email facilites.

When you think of emailing on a modern mobile handset the first name that comes to mind is Blackberry and their new Bold 9900 device is the undoubted king in this area. The 9900 sits proudly at the top of the Blackberry range and offers a powerful 1.2Ghz processor together with the very latest version of the Blackberry operating system. These handsets were originally designed with business users in mind so we naturally expect the devices to offer unrivalled email features and this phone does not disappoint. The full Qwerty keypad is an obvious advantage and it helps the speedy composition of messages. The keypad is well constructed and each individual button is well spaced out meaning that you make minimal errors when typing a message. If you are looking to attach photograph files to your email message then the software used on this phone allows you to adjust the file size to improve the time it takes to send the message and there are also extensive editing options included.

If you are looking for great email features at a more pocket friendly price than the Blackberry Bold 9900 then you will find the Curve range of RIM phones hard to beat. The new Curve 9360 is not as fast as the Bold 9900 but it still uses an impressive 800Mhz processor that means that it performs well when compared with similarly priced devices. The phone also lacks a capacitive touchscreen which means all navigation must be performed with the optical trackpad but this is no great hardship to anybody who is used to using a Blackberry device. If you are looking for a high quality and responsive touchscreen on which to compose your messages rather than a physical keypad then the iPhone 4S is the handset for you. The 3.5 inch screen means that the device is not as large as many modern phones but still big enough to include large keys and an impressive predictive text system. The improved notifications system that is used on this phone also alerts you the moment you recieve new mail meaning you will never miss that important email.

All modern smartphones offer good email features but the Blackberry Bold 9900 really is outstanding in this area. If a Blackberry takes your fancy but you do not want to spend to much money then the Curve 9360 is a great option while the iPhone 4S is the phone of choice for those not looking for a physical keyboard.

High Quality Displays On The Blackberry Curve 9380 And The HTC Explorer

There are some superb premium smartphones available but these devices do not suit every consumer. Some people simply desire a more basic phone or one that is available at a more wallet friendly price. We take a look at the Blackberry Curve 9380 and the HTC Explorer, two of the best budget handsets available, and see how these models differ from one another.

Both of these excellent new handsets offer compact dimensions as they do not include the huge displays that can be found in a number of more premium models. The Blackberry Curve 9380 has dispensed with the Qwerty keypad found on many other RIM devices in favour of a full capacitive touchscreen. This display measures 3.2 inches and can show a resolution of 360 x 480 pixels. The HTC Explorer uses the same sized display but one that offers a slightly lower resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. This means that the HTC offers a pixel density of 180PPI which is slightly lower than the 188PPI achieved by the Curve. The Blackberry is also a more pocket friendly device measuring just 11.2mm in depth and weighing an incredible 98 grammes which makes it one of the lightest phones you are likely to encounter. The Explorer is still fairly impressive in this area but does measure just over 1mm more in depth and weighs 10 grammes more.
Multi media fans will be pleased to note that both of these handsets offer a great range of media facilities.

Digital still cameras are fitted inside both of the models with the Blackberry Curve 9380 ultimately proving the better equipped model in this area thanks to a 5 mega pixel camera. This facility boasts some useful features such as an LED flash which helps improve the results in poor lighting conditions. Image Stabilisation software is also included to help you achieve the clearest possible final image. The HTC Explorer features a lower quality 3.5 mega pixel camera but does include a slightly higher standard of video capture which is 480P resolution compared to the VGA quality that is recorded by the Blackberry. When storing your multi media files a large amount of storage capacity is required and these two models are both well equipped in this area thanks to a micro SD card slot that can accept card sizes up to 32GB.

The Blackberry Curve 9380 and the HTC Explorer are two of the best value smartphones available. The Blackberry offers more in the way of features but the HTC does run on the Android operating system that is popular with many consumers.

The Blackberry Bold 9790 And The Bold 9780-How The New Devices Improves On The Old Model

In the Blackberry range of mobile phones the Bold devices sit at the very top of the range above the likes of the Curve and the Torch handsets. RIM have now launched the new Blackberry Bold 9790, a device that can been seen as a budget version of the Bold 9900 or as a successor to the Bold 9780. We take a look at this new phone and see how it compares with the 9780.

In terms of the physical size of both devices the new Blackberry Bold 9790 has managed to shave around 3mm off the overall depth meaning that the model measures an incredibly slim 11.4mm. The weight of the phone has also reduced by 15 grammes to just 107 grammes. It is not only the dimesnsions of the new model that have changed but also many of the technical specifications are different. The Bold 9780 used an optical trackpad for navigation around the screen but the new model offers a capacitive touchscreen display in addition to the trackpad. In terms of screen resolution both models are identical with a 480 x 360 display which equates to a pixels per inch rating of 246. One area where the 9790 offers a massive improvement over its predeccessor is with the internal storage capacity that it offers. The model is loaded with 8GB of internal capacity and this is accompanied by a micro SD card slot that can accept cards with a capacity of up to 32GB. The earlier model offered the same micro SD facilities but with a much smaller internal storage of just 256MB.

The new Blackberry Bold 9790 operates at a much faster pace than the Bold 9780 thanks to the more powerful 1Ghz processor that it incorporates. This improved processing power is joined by 768MB of RAM to ensure that the model is well equipped to handle any future advancements in technology. This superb specification is an improvement from the 624 MHz processor and 512MB RAM that was used by the 9780 model. One area where there is very little difference between the two phones is the digital camera facility. Both devices can capture a high quality 5 mega pixel still image and boast some handy extras in the shape of a useful autofocus function and an LED flash facility. VGA resolution video footage can also be recorded by both of these devices.

The new Blackberry Bold 9790 is a welcome addition to the Bold range of phones. The model offers some big improvements over its predecessor and should prove a great option for consumers who do not want to pay extra pounds for the premium Bold 9900 model.

The Blackberry Bold 9790 is coming soon and the Blackberry Bold 9900 are available now.

NFC Just One Attraction Of The Blackberry Bold 9790

Research In Motion have established a superb reputation for producing mobile handsets that offer excellent features with a high level of user friendliness. The new Blackberry Bold 9790 is the latest addition to their range and incorporates some superb new functions together with facilities like the full Qwerty keypad that the brand have been renowned for using over the years. We take a look at some of the newer aspects of this model that help the phone compete with other smartphone’s that are currently available.

One feature that is becoming more common on the modern mobile device is NFC and the Blackberry Bold 9790 also offers this facility. NFC stands for Near Field Communication and is a new wireless technology designed to work over very short distances. One area where NFC will be useful to phone consumers is when it come to paying for goods in retail outlets. The 9790 stores your debit card details on the phone so when you have completed your shopping your handset and literally be held in front of a special transmitter. The user will then be presented with a screen on their phone which asks for a PIN number and when this has been entered correctly the transaction is complete. This method of payment will soon become the way that many of us make purchases but at present their is only a handful of phones that offer the technology. NFC security is very good and the fact that data is exchanged over distances of up to 8 cm it means that is very unlikely that anybody can be in close enough proximity to you to be able to trigger a data exchange. The fact that a PIN number is required also adds another level of security which is important in this modern age of cyber theft. There are numerous other potential uses for NFC including linking the phone with other compatible devices for exchanging files but the payment services are perhaps the most interesting as it could change the way in which we all use our mobile phones.

The Blackberry Bold 9790 features a powerful voice activated search feature that works very well indeed. Some mobile phones incorporate similar facilities but very few offer the precision or the search range that the new Bold 9790 does. All areas of the phone are searched including emails, contacts and music. The facility also stretches as far as the internet meaning that the entire world wide web can be searched by simply saying the word that you want to find. Another excellent aspect of the Bold 9790 is the Blackberry Messenger platform. This great system enables all Blackberry users to send free messages to one another regardless of their current location. This service has been responsible for the huge popularity that Blackberry devices have gained with the younger generation who spend much of their time messaging one another rather than conducting voice calls.

The Blackberry Bold 9790 is a great mix of old established features like the Qwerty keypad with some new innovations such as NFC and the voice search option. This phone will appeal to business users and also a younger audience wanting to take advantage of the excellent Blackberry Messenger service and the phones superb social networking features.

The Blackberry Bold 9790 is coming soon and the Blackberry Bold 9900 is available now.
