Matchbook Clarence House Chase Raceday
Ascot Racecourse has teamed up with talkSPORT for a chance to help cast any New Year blues to the side and head to Ascot for a fantastic afternoon of top-class Jumps racing, as the world’s most famous racecourse re-opens its doors for 2020 in style.
This is a fixture adored by Jumps enthusiasts with the highlight of a quality card, the Grade 1 Matchbook Clarence House Chase, justifiably held in the highest regard. The contest consistently attracts many of racing’s most elite two-mile chasers, and boasts an impressive roll of honour. Former winners include the legendary Desert Orchid, the imperious Sprinter Sacre, perpetual favourite and three-time victor Un De Sceaux and last year’s winner, the mighty Altior.
Racegoers are invited to join a free ‘Raceday Ramble’ around the course before racing with former jockey Colin Brown, finishing up with a warming mug of hot chocolate. Colin rode the great Desert Orchid to victory at Ascot on many occasions during the beloved grey’s illustrious career, making him ideally placed to describe exactly what it’s like to ride the unique test this course presents. Those wishing to join the course walk are asked to register their interest in advance at ascot.co.uk or by calling 0344 346 3000.
Off the track, expect a wide range of superb hospitality options and more casual food outlets in both the King Edward VII and Queen Anne Enclosures. Whether deciding to treat you and your guests to one of our luxurious Fine Dining packages or instead opting for the selection of winter dishes and cocktails available ‘on the go’ across the racecourse, a memorable day of exhilarating sport and socialising is guaranteed for all.
